♦· What a memory this song has for me. I had been madly in love
wth a guy for years. He went to Vietnam and came back a
different person - didn't care about anything including me.
My heart was so broken. A few weeks later on a lark, my best
GF and I decided to go to the Jersey shore for 4th July
weekend. We walked around looking for a vacancy at the hotels
and there were none. I saw a guy sitting on a balcony at one
hotel and asked if there where any vacancies there and he
said no, but I'll help you look. He and his friend met us on
the sidewalk, got their car and drove us all around. He was
stunningly gorgeous. He got us a place to stay with some girls
from his neighborhood. He said I was the prettiest girl he
ever saw and that other guy I had been with must have been
out of his head to dis me. We married a year and a half later.
I do remember this song played a lot during the summer of '69
or thereabouts. Funny thing, but my old love, the Marine,
tended to show up everywhere he thought I might be including
the church the day I got married and for years later. Guess
he had his regrets. ·♦

♦· One day you young people will know that the music
you listen to in your teens leaves an imprint on
your sub-conscious, and passes seamlessly into
your DNA and stays with you for life. How lucky
was I to have such talent as the glorious genius
Albert Lee to listen to. An unassuming man who let
people like Clapton take the mantle of best
guitarist. This solo is quite simply the best you
will ever hear. Thanks man, this song has become
part of the tapestry of my life. Ps Thank god for
You Tube.......what a thing for an old man to have
at his fingertips. ·♦

All That Old & Glorious Rock Bands !!!
♦· Para empezar, Quisiera decir,
Que nadie
le Quita
el mérito
a los Beatles,
ni a los Stones...,
Que ya forman parte
de la Cultura Popular
y del inconsciente colectivo.
Los primeros, por ser dignamente
creativos, y los segundos,
por traer consigo
el desenfado
y el descontrol
de las calles inglesas; rock&blues!,
y baladas
Que te erizan la piel
y te 'tocan' el alma!
Pero, además, exísten otras bandas,
otras distintas particularidades
Vastano & Dick Domane, a la cabeza!;
los 'Chase', con cuatro trompetistas,
y una base rítmica del re contra carajo!;
con el inolvidable & eterno Bill Chase;
los 'Chicago Transit Authority'.♪. . .
(luego, a secas, ♦·Chicago·♦.♪. . . .);
'Blood, Sweat & Tears', de New York, y
su jazz/rock para sacarse el sombrero!;
el 'feeling' de los 'Cold Blood'.♪...,
de San Francisco; Ginger Baker, y sus
'Air Force'.♪...(Fuerza Aérea!); el
rock/soul de los Pacific Gas & Electric,
con sus músicos maravillosos!!!; la
genialidad & la popularidad de 'Gary
DeCarlo', con Steam (aunque no exístan!);
los magníficos 'Heads, Hands & Feet'.♪...,
con fuerza!,
belleza! & rock!!!
También, los tremendos y necesarios!:
'The Nice'.♥..., con Keith Emerson, Lee
Jackson & Brian Davison; 'Brian Auger &
The Trinity'.♪. . ., con Dave Ambrose,
& Clive Thacker -un trío impresionante!-,
'Jools'.♪. . ., y su magia... Ekseption,
holandesa!, y por último, ♦·The Who·♦.♪,
con la inteligencia, el misterio & la
'sutileza' de un Pete Townshend, en la
guitarra eléctrica; el poderoso e imbatible
bajo eléctrico de John Entwistle, y la
fiereza y destreza de Keith Moon, que
aporrea los parches y la percusión, en :
'Underture'.♪. . . ♫ ♫ ♫
Para ellos, para esas viejas & gloriosas
bandas de rock!, de jazz!!!, de soul!!!,
de funk! & rock progresivo! :
¡Todo mi respeto & admiración! ·♦

♦· Hangman, hangman, hold it a little while
I think I see my friends coming,
riding
a many mile.
Friends, you get some silver?
Did you get a little gold?
What did you bring me, my dear friends
To keep me from the gallows pole?
What did you bring me to keep me from the gallows pole?
I couldn't get no silver,
I couldn't get no gold
You know that we're damn poor to keep you from the gallows pole.
(Verse 2)
Hangman, hangman, hold it a little while
I think I see my brother coming,
riding
many
a mile
Brother, you get me some silver?
Did you get a little gold?
What did you bring me, my brother,
to keep me
from the gallows pole?
Brother, I brought you some silver, yeah
I brought a little gold,
I brought a little of everything
To keep you from the gallows pole!
Yes, I brought you to keep you
from the gallows pole.
(Verse 3)
Hangman, hangman, turn your head awhile
I think I see my sister coming,
riding many mile,
mile,
mile...
Sister, I implore you, take him
by the hand
Take him
to some
shady bower
Save me from the wrath of this man.
Please take him,
save me from the wrath of this mad, man
Hangman, hangman, upon your face a smile
Tell me that I'm free to ride
Ride for many
mile,
mile,
mile!
(Verse 4)
Oh yes, you got a fine sister.
She warmed my blood from cold.
She warmed my blood to bolling
hot
to keep you
from
the gallows pole.
Your brother brought me silver,
your sister warmed my soul
But now I laugh and pull so hard,
see you
swinging
from the gallows pole.
But now I laugh and pull so hard,
see you
swinging
from the gallows pole.
Swingin'
on the gallows pole!
Swingin'
on the gallows pole!
Swingin'
on the gallows pole!
Swingin'
on the gallows pole!
Pole,
Pole,
Pole!,
pole!,
pole,
pole,
yeah!
(Outro)
Ah-ha-ha
Swingin' on the gallows pole!
Swingin'
I gotta swing!
See-saw marjory daw
I gotta swing!
See-saw knock at my door.
I gotta sing
Keep on singing . . .

♦ Posdata:
no parezca).
cantante, pianista, productor & excelente 'songwriter'.♪ :
